Gyms are libraries
If the gym felt boring, don't blame the gym. A gym is a library; whether it comes alive is on the librarian — the coach.

The gym exists to make movement more accessible and simple. And if you haven’t found a gym whose trainer or coach made it fun or interesting for you to train it, chances are the coach/trainer sucks, not gyms or working out.
If people were scaling walls, seeking out heavier bags to lift or jumping over gates and using parkour to navigate footpath and get to bus stands, I wouldn’t have a job. But no one does that. And I’ll bet you good money, the people nodding along at the empathetic takes are not carrying bags or doing parkour.
Here’s a more apt parallel.
The gym is library. It has all kinds of books in it.
But it’s dark and kind of dauntingly large.
There’s a librarian. Who can guide you through this and find the book you want. Nay. The book you need and deserve.
But some librarians don’t understand what’s in the library. They don’t read enough. They have no clue what you need to read. Worse yet, they try making you read the same books they read. And you may not enjoy those books. Or it may not be the appropriate book for you.
But you don’t blame the library.
End of metaphor.
Gyms are a library. There’s a book in there for you. Either you can spend time and find it yourself or you find a librarian who can help you.
But choosing not to read at all. Or only reading posts on Facebook or Linkedin (carrying bags or jumping walls) is handicapping yourself but not choosing to use the best tools built to help you move better. So find a better librarian.
